The Queen of the Rose Marie

Come gather ‘round ye sailors
A story I've to tell
‘Tis of a maiden young and fair
With sea green eyes and rose red hair
In all the world without compare
The Queen of the Rose Marie

Now some mutineers had stolen
From his majesty
A ship of finest heritage
With golden trim along it's bridge
And every royal privilege
A ship called Rose Marie

While plundering the coastline
They came upon her town
They stole her father's every coin
Ate his food and drank his wine
And took her for their crew to join
Upon the Rose Marie

The captain of these mutineers
He was an evil man
He had in mind to do her harm
And this she knew with full alarm
Armed with not but wit and charm
Upon the Rose Marie

That maid she did not cry or wail
As captives often do
But sang her songs unto the crew
Laughed and danced the whole night through
‘Til every sailor loved her true
Upon the Rose Marie

And when the captain called for her
He was to be surprised
His captain's hat was stolen off
Placed upon her head so soft
Then she made him the plank to walk
Right off the Rose Marie

Now if you're sailing eastward
Of New England beware
You may meet a pirate there
With sea green eyes and rose red hair
In all the world without compare
The Queen of the Rose Marie
